Biography

Hatsune Miku began as singing-synthesis software released by Crypton Future Media on 31 August 2007, using voice material from Saki Fujita and original character artwork by KEI. Creators enter lyrics and melody and shape the singing, allowing the same identity to appear in many authors’ works. [1] [2]

Different creators use the voice to make music released under their own production credits. For example, TOY’S FACTORY issued Tell Your World EP on 14 March 2012 under the artist credit livetune feat. 初音ミク. [2] [3]

Concerts brought this online creativity into physical venues. The first Magical Mirai combined performances, exhibitions and activities at Yokohama Arena on 30 August 2013. MIKU EXPO began at Jakarta Convention Center on 28–29 May 2014, followed that year by Los Angeles and New York. [4] [5] [6]

During the pandemic, the overseas concert series moved online: MIKU EXPO Online in 2021, Rewind in 2022 and a VR edition in 2023 preceded the tenth-anniversary tours in 2024. The anniversary theme, Intergalactic Bound, was made by Yunosuke and CircusP, with lyrics by CircusP. [7]

The voice products have followed different technical paths: V4 CHINESE arrived in 2017, NT with Crypton’s own engine in 2020, and V6 on 14 April 2026. V6 uses VOCALOID:AI with creator controls over pitch, volume and vibrato. Its release announcement described Japanese and English voices and planned Chinese support as a free update; this review did not confirm delivery of that update. [1] [10]

The 2026 concerts continued to combine creators’ songs with a live band. The official North American tour report documents Chicago on 12–13 April and Denver on 15 April, naming the band members. FLAVOR FOLEY wrote the music and lyrics for the tour theme CONNECT:COMMUNE, which was performed during the concerts. [9]

Checked on 2026-10-20 for representative software, works and concerts, not all user creations. Delivery of V6’s Chinese update is unconfirmed; the original product page returned 503 in this pass, so technical details also cite the formal release announcement. All four versions received a second AI self-review by the original editor, without independent native-language editing.
