Biography
Han YuA began in Smilegate’s VR romance adventure FOCUS on YOU, released in July 2019. On June 4, 2020, the developer announced improved character graphics and an expansion into social media, music and fashion collaborations. Her game appearance and recording debut are distinct events. This entry follows the subsequent digital-artist project built around her, rather than presenting the game’s plot as real biography. [1]
The 2022 recording project used a digital character jointly produced by Smilegate and GIANTSTEP, with a YG KPlus management contract announced that February. Her first single, I Like That, arrived under the name YuA on April 12. Smilegate and CJ ENM oversaw the music, with lyrics and composition by Park Woo-sang. The synth-driven dance release added a credited song and choreography to her influencer activities. The management association is historical, as documented at the time. [2] [4]
According to Smilegate, the team assembled voice data from hundreds of people across age groups and used AI voice synthesis to create YuA’s vocal sound. That supports a synthesized-vocal classification, not independent songwriting, performance decisions or self-management. The named music, dance and video contributors make human creative work an explicit part of the production. [4]
The full I Like That music video appeared on May 25, 2022, a date described retrospectively in the English announcement published May 31. Vikings League directed and produced it, with choreography involving Do-hee Kim of 1MILLION DANCE STUDIO and a performance alongside dancers. Its meteorite-and-AI origin story and arrival on Earth are fictional narrative, not a technical account of how the character was produced. [3]
Her repertoire then expanded into reinterpretations. Released November 14, 2022, 너의 외로움이 날 부를 때 (When Your Loneliness Calls Me) answers a 1997 Jang Pil-soon song. Original lyricist Cho Dong-hee helped revise the words; the production used piano and strings, with Abbey Road Studios’ Miles Showell contributing mastering. The letter-like reply provides a different musical premise from the dance debut, rather than simply changing the soundtrack beneath an avatar. [5] [7]
On March 6, 2023, YuA released her third single, 보라빛 향기, remaking Kang Susie’s 1990 song with an arrangement involving Yang Si-on. Miles Showell and Sound Republica also participated. Smilegate described an accompanying lyric video built around purple city scenery. These three releases establish an early recording history; the historical announcements do not establish her activity level or management arrangements in 2026. [6] [8]
