Biography
FN Meka is a 3D rap character promoted by Factory New, with early recordings including the 2019 singles “Internet” and “Moonwalkin’.” Songs, short social videos and extravagant virtual-object displays formed the project’s public output. Interviewed in 2021, Anthony Martini described Factory New as a company devoted to virtual artists and identified designer Brandon Le as his partner. [1] [4]
In 2021 the company claimed that its system analysed popular songs to recommend lyrics, chords, melodies and tempos for its producers to combine. In the same Music Business Worldwide interview, however, Martini explicitly said humans supplied the vocals; computers writing and singing independently remained an ambition. Even that promotional account did not establish fully autonomous recordings. [4]
Human work on the early music later received more specific public testimony. In a direct 2022 REVOLT interview, Kyle The Hooligan said he wrote and performed “Internet,” “Moonwalkin’” and “Cowboy,” trying different voices, styles and upward pitch processing. This is voluntarily disclosed professional work, not an inference about a private identity or evidence that he voiced every later track. [3]
An August 2022 Capitol Records association produced “Florida Water,” featuring rapper Gunna and gaming streamer Clix, with production by Turbo and DJ Holiday. This connected music and gaming audiences and marked a specific move from social-media character activity into major-label distribution. [1]
The relationship ended quickly. On August 23, 2022, Capitol confirmed its immediate termination in a statement emailed to Digital Music News, apologising to the Black community for insufficient scrutiny of equity and the creative process before signing. Industry Blackout had criticised racial stereotyping. The criticism and the label’s action are distinct historical facts; Capitol is not presented as a current affiliation. [5]
Martini subsequently retracted the earlier AI-writing account, stating that humans wrote and performed the vocals. Read alongside his earlier interview and Kyle’s testimony, this separates human music-making, the visual persona and AI marketing claims. The evidence still does not audit every version’s full production process or establish the project’s present activity. [6] [4] [3]
